Performance of a small impeller model


The small size impeller model, represented beside, was tested in practice. The overall rotation system was defined by an inertia momentum of 0.15 kg.m2. The tests, consisted in measuring the angular frequency in RPM of the rotation system as a function of the flow velocity Vt. According to the obtained results, the system started rotating for a flow velocity of approximately 0.5 m/s (1 knot), attaining an angular frequency of 100 RPM for a flow velocity of 2.5 m/s (5 knots).
